So I have this buddy I used to live with in college. Bastard can draw a mean picture. Anyhow, as I started getting back into sketching again after so many years, I turned back to him to get some practice. When we lived in the dorms, the two of used to draw these pictures of ourselves killing the other. You know what I mean, me chopping his fingers of, him impaling me, etc.... In order to learn and practice sequential art, I called on him for a duel. Just like what you would see in the BBS these days. Anyhow, he got to pick the theme for this set, and he chose fantasy. The sketches are the concept sketches I did for the version of me in the set. Odd thing was that we designed our characters somewhat the same, most notably the boots, and the scarf, but everyone knows that the scarf around the neck is nothing new to fantasy characters. Just ask MAD and BASTARD!... Here are the actual pages I did. Each set was 2 pages long so what you have here is 12 pages total, and 6 spreads. I still need to work on my storytelling, but keep in mind, between every one of my pages is a set of pages done by Fred, so of course this story will not look continuous. My favorite pages were the first and the last. But I'll tell ya, doing these pages really killed my drawing spirit. I had worked on a 2 day deadline for each set, with a 2 day resting period in between. Since I am a perfectionist to some degree, having to turn in crap after 2 days was killin me. Needless to say, it took the spirit right out of me. Notice the incomplete work on set 4? My absolute fav was the last set since Fred spent a lot of time stepping on my head in his shots, I wanted to step on his too, so in the last frame, I got my chance. Entire Sequence Character Sheets Dat's Pencils
So Fred calls me this morning and says he has some gift art for me. He sends me the second to the last page of the series that depicts his demon in summoning. Says he had to have somthing to show since only my pages were represented. He goes on to say he's eventually going to color the whole thing, all 27 pages. Here's the first of the. Hopefully more will come soon. QUICKLINKS | Home | About Me | CMAX | Art Galleries | Graphic Design | Web Design | Digipix | Simpsons | GuestBook | Forums | Links | Contact webmaster@studio1311.net |
