Object Illustration

When I went to school at the University, I took on a job at a publishing company as a color artist. It was a bit embarassing initially because I went to the school job fair looking for possible careers in graphics and illustration but was never able to find anything because mist of the employers there were looking for career seekers looking for business, engineering, technology, etc. Recruiters from McGrawhill were there as well and even though they didn't know what they would have for me, took my resume anyhow. A few weeks later, I got called in for an interview. Can't remember what they wanted, but I interviewed and lost the position and I felt it had a lot to do with the fact that my professional portfolio was full of comic book drawings and hero sketches. Fortunately, they called me back a couple months later. Apparently, the color jobs I had in my portfolio was something they were looking for so they called me back for a different position. This time I landed it. The job was about 50 miles from campus, but for me, well worth the drive for the sheer experience.

Anything for the love.

After completing the color portion of the job, I moved on to drawing and designing backgrounds and borders for page layout. After that expired, I moved on to illustration. The results of which you see here.

It was a 3 day a week , 4 hour a day job, and in my dreams I still go there for work from time to time (weird, eh?). But that was definitely the start of my graphics career professionally, and the place where I learned that I could draw a good phone.

Come show them what you're made of, or let them make something out of you.
