Welcome to my sketch gallery. Listed below is just about every picture I have scanned to date regardless of the category it's in for your viewing pleasure. At any rate, I actually began drawing at an early age and for a long time, absorbed the compliments I'd get from kids and teachers, etc. Turned 15 and realized my stuff was crap compared to the way I wanted to be able to draw. For the next 3 years or so I spend my time studying Jim Lee, but never getting a clue what it was I was working for. Even till today, I still have problems. To some degree I now know that the key is geometry. If you have a firm grasp of geometry, good spatial imagination, and the ability to translate your thoughts to paper with a decent sketch, I have no doubt you can draw anything.

Oh, and read over the book "How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way". Best teacher I ever had... No joke!

Almost all of my drawings exist in a collection of 3 sketch books, bound black. One of which belongs to my wife and happens to be larger than life. She's a great artist in her own right also so I just added to her existing works. Every now and then I'd draw a nice pic on a scrap piece of paper. In such a case, I just press it between the pages of one of my books.

Other than that, enjoy, and feel free to let me know what you think about the individual pix, or the gallery in general. All comments are appreciated, both good and negative alike.

Enjoy the Gallery, and let me know what you think!

OLD STUFF
This is the old Stuff Gallery. Some of the stuff I did from the past that I figured I'd put here for archiving purposes. Sometimes I wince when I look at the stuff because they seem like such bad drawings to me (not all of them) but it's fun to see where I came from and to watch the art evolve.

Old Stuff

Weapons of choice:
- Pentel TECHNICLICK 0.5mm PD105T lead pencil
- Sanford TUFF STUFF Eraser Stick
- STAEDTLER 980 lead holder
- Some fat putty white soft eraser

Want to show your skills or get some help developing them? POst your works here and I'll evaluate it myself during the growing days of the new forum. It's a great place to meet and discuss your works with myself and other members of the forums.

Come show them what you're made of, or let them make something out of you.

Broke apart the sequentials section. Initially had the sequential pieces posted as spreads of double pages but I think thatw as confusing and made the pages too small. Fred says he will be coloring all the pages so I thought it would be good to post the pages independantly of each other. In order to show the whole story, I will probably eventually add Fred's pages too so we'll see how that plays out.

Been a while since I posted new here. Just wanted to mention the addition of 2 new drawing. Morrigan and Jedi Master Amara Sinh. Both pieces are FANART of a sort and Amara is a fanart design, a tribute to Jedi Women (hot). Anyhow, after posting the images on the PK and DB forums, I have gotten great response from all ofthese that both allowed my site to push over the 500 mark as well as resulted in many contributions to the pieces in colors and inks and so forth. Just wanted to thank INDEM, DARKSTALKER, DARKELF, and BAMPHALUS to date for their art contributions and let them all know their work has been added to the STUDIO1311 gallery.

Threw in a pic of Morrigan I sketched up real quick at the end of the day. Normally I would not post these but I was quite happy with it.

Added the Psylocke colors to the color gallery as well as the ink Gallery.

After rummaging around in an old box upstairs, I ran into a few old pix. I was surprised since I didn't know I had kept so much of my old sketches and drawings. It was interesting to see what I had done in the past and the different stages of admiration for the different comic artists I've liked and the influences were very apparent. Tacked them on to the end of the old stuff sections for you to see and for me to archive.

Man, I've come a long way but still have a long way to go...

Many changes have been made to the gallery. Most notably, color and ink galleries have been added to the pencil gallery section, so I will probably want to rename this section eventually. The number menus need to be updated to show the changes and a collaborations gallery is in the owrk since there have been a few contributions from other artists and hobbyists from the web on my existing pieces.

Added an inking section. Consideringbreaking older images out. They always bothered me that they don't match the consistency of the newer drawings but at the same time I recognoize the importance of cataloging your works of the past, and remebering where you came from and how far you've come. But at the same time, I don't want it to be posted with older pics because I don't want to give the notion that I am inconsistent with my drawings (even though I am)... Also, it's always fun to see where you were at 2 years ago, 5 years ago, and so on.

Just did a few scans to have the images fit the window better. It's gonna make it fit better for 1024x768 screens and less accomodating for 800x600, but I believe most people use that standard now.

Added the Batman picture to the galleries. Also added a navigator quick link menu by category.

April 2, 2002
Rescanned some of the images since the sizes seemed to be a bit small.

Just added the comic strips I did when I was in High School. Also added a few older pics I dug up from the mid '90's and added them to the miscellaneous art section.
