Fanart is the reason I draw.

When i first started drawing, I was basically imitating someone else's drawing because I thought it was cool and derived pleasure from being able to draw it too. As time went on, it moved from being able to copy it down to the last mark and deriving a sense of accomplishment from being to come up with a hand drawn interpretation or rendition of an existing character.

CAPCOM Fan Art

X-Men Fan Art

Miscellaneous Fan Art

Most of the fanart I've done is based on a narrow range of entertainment locales. Mainly, X-men, CAPCOM video games, and a few other random video games. I never really did much anime fanart simply because I don't see the point in drawing my own versions of a lot of anime characters since the anime style is, to some degree, what defines their character. It's not like drawing your version of Wolverine. If you drew your own version of Vash, frankly, he may not look like Vash anymore unless you have an intrinsically anime style yourself..

Needless to say, the fanart I've done is based mostly on the versions done by some of my favorite artists in the comic book industry, namely, Jim Lee, Arthur Adams, Joe Madureira, Scott Campbell, Bengus, and Aikiman. If you see my pics, you'll see the heavy influence each one of them had on my own development.

You may also notice, if you have a trained or astute eye, that I also draw portraits more often then I draw full body shots. Here are a few reasons for this. For one, I believe that character is generally defined in the face and bust shot of a figure.  Secondly, I've always had a problem with spacing my drawings on paper for full body shots. Thirdly, I have traditionally had a hard time connecting the upper body to the lower body. Guess these are things I should work on rather than avoid, so there's a lot of room to grow.

Enjoy the gallery, and feel free to make critiques. I enjoy the feedback.
