COLORS
I never was real good with colors. Matter of fact, I avoid them as much as I can since they seem to mess up my drawings. You draw a good picture, color it, and ruin it beyond repair. But given today's tools and technologies, I have been given the chance to play around with colors on my drawings without destroying the originals so I've ventured out into a new world. As part of my desire to take the drawings from cradle to grave, Coloring seems to me to be the last part of the entire life cycle of a piece and completes the image. It's only once you begin to color the piece do you realize that all the steps involved previous to the coloring have a significant impact on the how well the picture can be colored. Did you draw the folds right, did you pencil in the shadows for a true light source or did you fake it. All this comes out when you reach this stage and it begins to bring the piece full circle.

Previous attempts at the coloring have come up quite disappointing but it's a learning process. Hopefully, by the end, I'll have it nailed down and fly with colors.

Colored Art

Feature: Garrison start to finish

Garrison from beginning to end. Not really a tutorial, but as much of a stage process as I could muster wthout having to start from scratch. I just happened to have all the stages of the piece from beginning to end in tact so I've posted it in steps here.

Feature: Guest Colors

A collection of colors folks have lent to some of my pencils. The majority of whihch resulted from postings on the Polykarbon BBS.

Here is the first in a set of 26 that Fred Monasterio says he will color for the sequential series.
